All praise Nurgle!

Thaw has its positive and negative sides. :]
Don't think that I am wasting my time when I don't paint.
What I've been doing recently? Being sick! Just like proper Nurgle worshippers should do, we spread stomach flu around and to celebrate it we hid at home for a whole week. (Another week, because it was Balrogs second disease within a month.)
That was superb! We anxiously await developing some mutations ;)))

Nie myślcie, że kiedy nie maluję, trwonię czas.
Co ostatnio robiłam? Chorowałam! Jak na wyznawców Nurgla przystało rozsialiśmy grypę jelitową po okolicy i sami dla celebrowania tego wydarzenia zaszyliśmy się na cały tydzień w domu. (Na kolejny tydzień, bo to 2. choroba Balroga w ciągu jednego miesiąca.)
Było suuuuuper! Z niecierpliwością czekamy mutacji ;)))

As soon as I felt better I greeted and hugged my tools and that was all I managed to do with them, because for the whole day I was sitting surrounded with boxes full of bits, trying to find some bits for a scenic base for a Chaos Dwarf model. No matter how many bits I have in my boxes, there is never enough... But eventually I came up with an idea. Then I only needed to allow Mahon to criticize me, to tweak the concept under additional pressure ;P Fortunately there was no objections ;)

Jak tylko poczułam się lepiej, wyściskałam się na powitanie z moimi narzędziami i to by było na tyle, bo cały dzień siedziałam zakopana w kartonach z częściami i elementami do zbudowania podstawki pod krasnoluda chaosu. Ile bym nie miała części zawsze jest mi za mało ... ale w końcu coś wymyśliłam. Jeszcze tylko pozwolić się skrytykować Mahoniowi, żeby pod presją dopracować koncepcję ;P Ale na szczęście nie zgłosił sprzeciwu. ;)

Typhus

I know it took me some time, but I have photos of my Typhus at last.

After the contest I worked on the model a bit more. I increased saturation of the armour and the contrast, and improved the alien in the ground. Enjoy :)

Wiem, że trochę to trwało, ale wreszcie mam zdjęcia Tyfusa.

Po konkursie dopracowałam model. Nasyciłam kolor pancerza, zwiększyłam kontrast i dopracowałam malowanie obcego w ziemi. Miłego oglądania :)

 

We showed great determination trying to make our own Christmas cards, but it took us 3 days to make only 4 cards. We wouldn't be ready before mid-January this way... ;P

So we chose one of them and we are going to copy it. Does it count as cheating?

Dzielnie walczyliśmy w temacie kartek świątecznych, ale w 3 dni zrobiliśmy 4 obrazki.

W tym tempie zdążylibyśmy z nimi na połowę stycznia ;P

Wybraliśmy jeden i powielimy go. Czy to oszustwo?

Kuuurczę, sądząc po reakcjach po ostatnim wpisie, wszyscy będą robić lawę na podstawce ;))) ALARM!

And I am sweating over a Games Workshop hellcannon of Chaos. Sweating is a good way to describe what I'm doing. I am using old brushes and the parcel with new ones has been late for over two weeks now. Some sizes are out of stock :((( just like here!!! I have everything started and nothing finished... one more week and I'll be as explosive as a volcano.

Enough of this ranting... How do they say it? Patient people don't measure time? ;P

A ja ślęczę obecnie nad armatą krasnoludów chaosu z GW. Ślęczę to dobre określenie na to co robię. Pracuję na zużytych pędzlach, a nowa dostawa przeciąga się od dwóch tygodni. Brakuje im niektórych rozmiarów :((( to zupełnie jak mnie!!! Wszystko mam pozaczynane i nic nie wykończone... jeszcze tydzień i sama będę jak ten wulkan.

Ale koniec zrzędzenia, ... jak to się mówi? Cierpliwi czasu nie liczą? ;P

To cheer myself up I made a tree for the hellcannon diorama. Let me show it to you.

(I had to part with my workshop, but not with my treasures! The box with branches and roots came handy again ^^)

One of two twigs had a bulge next to its base, which I managed to use as a place for a pin. I connected it with the base of my diorama and then merged the twigs with some Milliput: 

Na poprawę nastroju zrobiłam drzewo do scenki z armatą. Pokażę wam.

(Rozstałam się z pracownią, ale nie z moimi skarbami - karton z gałęziami i korzeniami znów się przydał ^^)

Jedna z dwóch gałęzi miała zgrubienie u nasady, które wykorzystałam i wwierciłam się z sztyftem. Połączyłam ją z podstawką, a potem złączyłam dwie gałęzie Milliputem:

I like to sculpt trees in the red (standard) Milliput, because its dry texture allows to recreate roughness of tree bark with ease:

Lubię rzeźbić drzewa w Millipucie czerwonym (standardowym), bo jego sucha konsystencja fajnie oddaje szorstkość kory:

As you can see the tree is not finished yet, but you must be getting the idea of where I am heading with it.

Choć, jak widać, drzewo nie jest jeszcze skończone, pewnie widzicie dokąd z nim zmierzam.

The last Lord of Tzeentch is literally screaming with a myriad of colors, which fills me with some kind of doubt - I already got used to all those monotoneous colors ;)))

Ostatni Lord Tzeencha krzyczy feerią kolorów co mnie trochę niepokoi - przyzwyczaiłam się już do tej monotonii kolorystycznej ;)))

Sometimes I am sked if I know how much time did painting these models (that model) take... for me the most accurate representation of passing time is for example something like this: All the Tzeentch models took as much as listening to the whole Tolkien's trilogy plus two volumes of Sapkowski's saga about the witcher.

The Tzeentch period is ending for me, but fortunately the saga is still going to go on for some time ^^

Right now I am at Ciri/lesbian Falka...  I'm listening to this audiobook for the third time and every time a different character is the cult one for me. Now I am a fan of Dandelion ^^ And maybe we are going to vote for our favorite characters? Whose vote goes for the Witcher, whose for Dandelion, whose for Ciri, and maybe somebody's goes to Yennefer?

Czasem ktoś zadaje pytanie ile czasu zajęło Ci malowanie tego/tych modeli... dla mnie najwiarygodniejszym określeniem czasu, to dla przykładu: Wszystkie Tzeenche zajęły mi tyle co słuchowisko Trylogii Tolkiena i dwie części sagi Sapkowskiego.

Dla mnie kończy się epoka Tzeentcha, ale na szczęście saga Sapkowskiego jeszcze trochę potrwa ^^

(jestem na etapie: Ciri/Falka lesbijka... trzeci raz słucham tej książki i za każdym razem inna postać jest dla mnie kultowa). Tym razem jestem fanką Jaskra ^^  A może zagłosujemy? Kto głosuje na Wiedźmina, kto na Jaskra, kto na Ciri no i może trafi się fan Yennefer?

PS: Only in Tolkien's characters my choice remains the same. :D Tom Bombadil rules!

Mounted lord of Tzeentch and totally different scale

The second lord od Tzeentch that I painted goes to the same owner.  All these models will have a common color scheme because they belong to one army. I just have to get some more sea shells, because my heritage from my golden fish is running short. ;]

I also finished painting Be'lakor, so when Mahon manages to take photos I will share them with a short description.

Drugi z Lordów, jaki powstał, idzie w te same ręce. Wszystkie te modele będą miały wspólny schemat kolorystyczny, bo są do jednej armii. Muszę wykombinować skądś więcej muszelek, bo kończy mi się spadek po złotych rybkach ;]

Skończyłam też malować Be'lakora, więc jak tylko Mahoń upora się z fotkami, wrzucę razem z krótkim opisem.

I think I'll have a different painting day tomorrow, because we want to repaint walls of Balrog's rook for his first birthday. Paints and wall decorations are waiting, and I have a conceptual mess in my head. I hope I won't screw it up, and I am slightly panicked. It's a totally different scale after all, and there will be no corrections because we don't have the base color anymore. Wish me breaking the brushes tomorrow ^^

Jutro chyba zrobię sobie dzień z wałkiem, bo chcemy na Baldka pierwsze urodziny uatrakcyjnić mu ściany w pokoju. Farby i ozdoby ścienne czekają, a ja mam w głowie mętlik koncepcyjny. Mam nadzieję, że nie dam ciała, a cykora mam lekkiego. To przecież inna skala, a poprawek nie ma, bo nie mamy więcej farby koloru ściany. Życzcie mi połamania pędzla ^^

Tzeentch your minis: Several photo-tutorials

Hello, what's up with you?
Has much been going on in the world of miniatures during my absence?
I guess there was ;)

Since the beginning of the previous week Balrog's been spending 8 hours each day in the club (a kind of nursery or kindergarten). There are many "aunts" and kids there and we allowed him to get accustomed to the new place slowly - and that's the reason of my absense. Because since I got rid of the nanny, I had to take care of Balrog by myself.

Dużo się działo w świecie figurek kiedy mnie nie było?
Pewnie aż za dużo ;)

Balrog od początku poprzedniego tygodnia chodzi na 8h do klubu (coś jak żłobek albo przedszkole). Ciotek i dzieci tam chmara, więc ma szczęścia co nie miara. Pozwoliliśmy mu aklimatyzować się powoli, stąd moja nieobecność.
Bo skoro pogoniłam ostatnią nianię, musiałam sama się nim zająć.

For like a month Balrog's been able to run on his own and falling to the ground is no longer a tragedy for him.
He says "bam" and that's it - just another normal thing. He is able to move over thresholds now and is learning to move on stairs.
Walking down is easy peasy :P Climbing up is more difficult.

But it's enough of my private stuff, time to move on to the lord of Tzeentch.

Balrog sam biega od miesiąca, a i zaliczanie gleby przestało być tragedią.
"Bam" i tyle - normalna kolej rzeczy. Pokonuje progi i bierze się za schody.
Schodzenie to pryszcz ;P gorzej z wchodzeniem.

Ale koniec prywaty, lepiej napiszę jak to było u Lorda Tzeencha.

Painting the Lord of Tzeentch on a teleporting disc

Let's start with the base:

Initially I thought I'd convert a few 'tails' of the disc into pheasant's feathers and the model would become more 'birdy'.
But in result of some coincidence I came up with an idea of creating a teleporter and so the concept of making the feathers had to go.

I also received some interersting suggestions regarding the base on the forum and I admit that the idea of water splashing out of the teleporter was just superb.
I had a similar idea but discarded it quite quickly because I thought it would clash with the general concept of usung a desert theme for the base, but with an added twist of making it look like a sea bottom. (Quite Tzeentchy approach, wasn't it?)

After a bit of thinking I regret not using the idea, but I would most likely had a lot of work making such splashing water... but maybe the idea will find its use when I feel a need for changes?

Malowanie lorda Tzeentcha na dysku z teleportem

Zacznijmy od podstawki:

Na początku myślałam, że przerobię kilka dymków ciągnących się za dyskiem na pawie pióra i będzie mocno ptasi model.
Ale zbiegiem okoliczności wpadł mi do głowy pomysł z teleportem i pomysł z piórami poszedł w odstawkę.

Na forum dostałam kilka ciekawych pomysłów co mogłabym zrobić z tą podstawką i nie ukrywam, że pomysł z wodą wychlustującą się z teleportu za dyskiem jest super.
Również przemknęło mi to przez głowę, ale odrzuciłam pomysł bardzo szybko, bo wydawało mi się, że nie współgra z koncepcją zrobienia pustyni na terenie sugerującym wyglądem dno akwenu wodnego. (Typowo tzeenchowe zagranie.)

Po namyśle trochę tego żałuję, choć pewnie umęczyłabym się robieniem wychlustującej się wody... a może jeszcze mnie najdzie nieodparta potrzeba zmian?

But I digress... Let me tell you shortly what I did and you'll be able to see it in more detail on photos below.

The model of lord comes with a familiar. I removed the tab to make the familiar emerge either from the disc or from the terrain.
Another digression: Since Balrog is with us, we experience the "survival of the stronges". It also applies to plants.

Even cacti had to go through some tough moments. Although our plants were already hardened after surviving the heavy conditions we have at home (hyperactivity of the cat plus my indolence and Mahon's total indifference) ;P

But there's nothing to pull hair out of our heads because of a few plants. I found the cactus useful for making its miniature version.

But I already told you that I am a mediocre sculptor, so don't expect too much.

Wracając jednak do faktów dokonanych, to opiszę je w skrócie bo przecież będziecie mogli obejrzeć je na poniższych fotkach.

Model Lorda zamieszczony na dysku ma w zestawie chowańca, któremu odcięłma spaw/szynę, by umieścić go wyłaniającego się z dysku, albo z terenu.
Mała dygresja - Od kiedy Balrog jest z nami, w domu panuje zasada 'przetrwają najsilniejsi'. Dotyczy to równiez roślin.

Nawet kaktusy przechodziły cięższe chwile, choć po prawdzie to mieliśmy w domu same zahartowane rośliny, które przez lata przetrwały surowe warunki panujące w naszym mieszkaniu (nadpobudliwość kota połączona z moją opieszałością i całkowita objętnościa Mahonia) ;P

Ale nie ma co rwać sobie włośów z głowy z powodu kilku roślin. Kaktus przydał mi się do robienia jego zminimalizowanej wersji.

Jak już wspominałam rzeźbiarz ze mnie taki sobie, więc nie spodziewajcie się zbyt wiele.

Unfortunately the photos don't seem to be very valuable. I was working in too much chaos to remember what was already photographed and what not. Reviewing and sorting the photos and removing worthless ones took me a week.

So after it all, there were not too many photos left :/

But you will judge it by yourselves if any of them can be useful:

Zdjęcia niestety nie przedstawiają sobą wielkiej wartości. Pracowałam w zbyt dużym chaosie, żeby pamiętać co sfotografowalam a czego jeszcze nie. Posegregowanie zdjęć i pozbycie się bubli zajęło mi tydzień.

Niestety po przesiamu nie zostało sie wiele :/

Color scheme for airbrushing the disc:

Reaper Red Brick 09001 all over.

(The front of the disc was masked with foil and the edge was covered with maskol. To create the effect of chipped paint, I went further with maskol, applying it with a torn piece of a dish washing foam.)

The remaining unmasked part I covered with Vallejo Violet MC 960 first.

Then I added some Reaper Marine Teal 09077 and covered a smalled surface.

I applied Marine Teal alone on even smaller area.

Then I added P3 White to it.

Po całości Reaper Red Brick 09001

(Front dysku przesłoniłam folią i krawędź potraktowałam maskolem. Żeby stworzyć wrażenie odprysków/płatów farby, poszłam z maskolem trochę głębiej nakładając go urwanym kawałkiem gąbki.)

Resztę niezamaskowaną przeciągnęłam najpierw Vallejo Violet MC 960.

Potem dodałam do niego trochę Reapera Marine Teal 09077 i pokryłam mniejszy obszar.

Jeszcze płycej nałożyłam sam Marine Teal.

Następnie dodałam do niego White z P3.

Na koniec punktowo rozjaśniłam samym White.

I started with Reaper Dark Shadow 09040 but I changed my mind and covered it all with Reaper Red Brick 09001.

The next paints were:

Reapera Marine Teal 09077 + P3 White
White P3

The cape was covered with:
Reapera Marine Teal 09077 + Reaper Olive Shadow 09157

zaczęłam od Reaper Dark Shadow 09040, ale zmieniłam zdanie i pokryłam to Reaperką Red Brick 09001.

On Reaper Red Brick 09001 basecoat I sketched light with P3 White.
Other colors used were Citadel Snakebite Leather 61-14 and Reaper Marine Teal 09077.
